Kraken Expands Offering to US Securities Through Alpaca

Kraken has announced the launch of US securities trading for US-residing clients, expanding its platform beyond digital assets through a new partnership with Alpaca. The development supports Kraken’s effort to build a multi-asset-class trading platform that combines traditional and digital investment opportunities.

Through the partnership with Alpaca, an API-first brokerage platform and self-clearing broker-dealer, Kraken users can now access over 11,000 stocks and ETFs alongside the company’s existing lineup of more than 300 digital assets and six fiat currencies. Kraken’s expansion into US equities follows its recent acquisition of futures trading platform NinjaTrader, marking another step in widening investment access for its global client base.

Notional and fractional trading, low-latency execution, and commission-free equities trading

Nick LaMaina, Managing Director of Kraken, commented, “We are excited to work with Alpaca to bring US equities to our clients. This collaboration accelerates Kraken’s vision of combining traditional and digital asset classes into one platform, enhancing the user experience of both new and sophisticated traders while maintaining the highest standards of trust and security.”

Alpaca’s Broker API supports this new offering by enabling notional and fractional trading, low-latency execution, and commission-free equities trading. The partnership strengthens Kraken’s infrastructure for integrating traditional market access into its established digital asset services.

Yoshi Yokokawa, CEO and Co-Founder of Alpaca, commented, “We’re excited to congratulate Kraken on their incredible milestone to offer US securities. Their forward-thinking approach to combine multiple asset types into one consolidated platform shows how dedicated they remain to serving the needs of their global customer base, and we’re thrilled to be a part of their journey.”

Kraken plans to continue exploring additional traditional asset classes, including options, as it develops its platform to serve a broader range of financial needs around the world.

Founded in 2011, Kraken is one of the world’s largest digital asset exchanges by euro volume and liquidity. With a client base of more than 15 million traders and institutions globally, Kraken offers spot trading with margin, regulated derivatives, and index services across six fiat currencies. The company provides professional, round-the-clock online support and remains focused on building a secure environment for trading.

Alpaca, headquartered in the United States, provides brokerage infrastructure for stocks, ETFs, options, and crypto. The company has raised over USD 170 million in funding and serves millions of brokerage accounts worldwide through its self-clearing platform. Alpaca’s backers include Portage Ventures, Spark Capital, Tribe Capital, and other global investors.
