LSEG names Gianluca Biagini and Ron Lefferts Co-Heads of Data and Analytics Division

The London Stock Exchange Group has appointed Gianluca Biagini and Ron Lefferts as Co-Heads of its Global Data and Analytics division. Biagini will join the company from S&P Global on August 18, 2025, while Lefferts will transition from his current role leading LSEG’s global sales organization.

Both executives will report directly to LSEG Chief Executive David Schwimmer and join the company’s Executive Committee. They will be responsible for leading LSEG’s data and analytics business, which serves over 44,000 clients across more than 170 countries. The pair will also oversee the continued growth of LSEG Workspace, the company’s core data platform for financial professionals.

Biagini brings more than 25 years of industry experience. At S&P Global Market Intelligence, he served as Head of Data, Valuations and Risk Analytics, overseeing pricing, valuation, reference data, and cross-asset analytics. He joined S&P Global (formerly IHS Markit) in 2010 and held multiple leadership roles, including driving the global derivatives valuation business. Earlier in his career, he helped launch and expand Bloomberg Data Solutions.

Lefferts, who joined LSEG in 2021, currently serves as Group Head of Sales and Account Management. He previously led Strategic Accounts and has played a central role in expanding LSEG’s commercial reach. Before joining LSEG, Lefferts was Global Leader of Technology Consulting at Protiviti, and earlier held senior roles at IBM, including Managing Partner for Financial Services in both North America and Greater China.

LSEG FX Appoints COO

LSEG FX recently appointed Gavin Wells as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), bringing extensive experience in the FX industry as he has held senior positions across prominent financial institutions and technology firms.​ Gavin Wells’ career began with a nine-year tenure in the British Army as a Captain in the Royal Artillery, where he developed foundational leadership skills. Transitioning to the financial sector in 1993, he joined Citi and served for nearly 15 years, culminating as Global Head of Spot and Forwards, Head of E-Commerce, and Prime Brokerage.​

In 2008, Wells joined LCH, part of LSEG, as CEO of ForexClear and CDSClear, leading the development of clearing services for foreign exchange and credit default swaps over an eight-year period. He then moved to Digital Asset in 2016 as Head of Europe, focusing on distributed ledger solutions, before joining 360 Trading Networks (360T) in 2020 to advance their FX swaps strategy. ​

Beyond his executive roles, Wells has been actively involved in coaching and mentoring, earning a Master of Arts in Coaching and Mentoring Practice from Oxford Brookes University in 2022. He has also contributed to various organizations, including serving as Chair of the Board of Directors at LionFish Litigation Finance Limited and as Treasurer and Secretary for The Recovery Course.​
