Spreedly and EBANX Expand Access to LATAM’s Digital Payment Market

Spreedly and EBANX have announced a partnership to help global merchants expand in Latin America by offering access to local payment methods such as Pix, e-wallets, and regional card options. The collaboration supports international businesses, including travel platforms like Busbud and Rocket Travel by Agoda, in adapting to the region’s complex and diverse payment landscape.

The partnership spans all 17 Latin American markets served by EBANX, including Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia, as well as emerging digital economies such as Peru, Chile, and countries in Central America and the Caribbean. Together, the companies aim to simplify cross-border payment experiences while increasing transaction success rates for merchants.

“Latin America is a key market for global expansion”

Rose François, VP of Partnerships & Business Development at Spreedly, commented, “Latin America is a key market for global expansion, with diverse payment preferences driving success. Our collaboration with EBANX empowers merchants to offer local payment methods, enhancing customer satisfaction while supporting business growth in the region.”

Daniel Kornitzer, VP Head of Global Partnerships at EBANX, commented, “Latin America is on the radar of international companies because it offers solid expansion opportunities. Mexico and Peru, for example, are emerging digital markets with a growth potential of 25% and 20% per year by 2027, respectively. In Brazil, the expectation is that the online market, currently valued at an impressive USD 346 billion, will reach USD 586 billion by then.”

The rise of Brazil’s Pix payment system has significantly shifted consumer behavior. According to Payments and Commerce Market Intelligence (PCMI) data analyzed by EBANX, Pix already represents 33% of online travel payments in Brazil. The upcoming Pix Automático, scheduled for release in June 2025, will enable recurring payments—making it an even more viable method for streaming and subscription services.

François said, “Integrating Pix with our platform allows for faster, secure, and low-cost transactions, which are crucial for travel companies serving international customers.”

According to EBANX, Pix transactions processed by the company grew 139% in the last year. Clients using the platform reported a 25% increase in customer base and a 16% rise in revenue after adopting Pix. Kornitzer stated, “Offering Pix is no longer optional; it’s essential.”

Traditional payment methods still hold a majority share

Despite Pix’s growth, traditional payment methods still hold a majority share. PCMI data shows credit and debit cards account for 54% of digital commerce in Latin America, with local credit cards comprising 21% of that total—reaching 34% in Brazil and more than 20% in Argentina and Ecuador.

Kornitzer commented, “Cards continue to play an essential role alongside emerging methods like Pix. Companies must integrate multiple payment options to meet the diverse needs of customers.”

Spreedly and EBANX claim that their joint solution will offer higher-than-average transaction success rates, with Spreedly’s orchestration and routing capabilities combined with EBANX’s optimized local infrastructure and partnerships. The goal is to ensure efficient, secure, and cost-effective processing for a variety of payment methods across Latin America.

“This partnership combines Spreedly’s advanced payments orchestration with EBANX’s local expertise, providing a seamless payment experience for customers and helping businesses scale efficiently across Latin America,” François said.

In addition to expanding payment reach, the integration offers merchants simplified onboarding, access to multiple currencies and payment types, and regulatory compliance across jurisdictions. With the region’s digital commerce projected to continue growing, the Spreedly–EBANX partnership positions both companies to support global businesses seeking localized strategies in Latin America’s increasingly digital economy.
